Yong Wern Mei
Teaching Fellow
Yong Wern Mei received her PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 2006. Her PhD research focused on the anti-utilitarianism of Georges Bataille. She joined NTU as a teaching fellow in August 2008, having previously served two years at NUS as a postdoctoral fellow. Her teaching areas include feminist studies and contemporary women’s writing. She is currently working on a collection of essays on the work of Angela Carter and Love, and her contribution to the collection concerns the subject of love as a discourse of alterity. Her research interests lie mainly in philosophical readings of literature, and draws largely on 20th century continental philosophy and critical theory.
