Tamara Silvia Wagner
Associate Professor
Tamara S. Wagner completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2002 and is currently assistant professor of English Literature at the School of Humanities & Social Sciences at Nanyang in Singapore. She is the author of
Longing: Narratives of Nostalgia in the British Novel, 1740-1890
(2004) and
Occidentalism in Novels of Malaysia and Singapore, 1819-2004: Colonial and Postcolonial "Financial Straits"
(2005). Her previous publications include articles on nostalgia, occidentalism, and the functions of commerce in fiction. Wagner’s current project is a book-length study of financial speculation in Victorian literature. She is also editing a collection of essays on nineteenth-century consumer culture. Her articles have appeared, or are forthcoming, in
Victorian Literature and Culture, Victorian Review, Modern Language Quarterly, Critique, and Women's Writing
