Tamara Silvia Wagner

  Tamara S. Wagner completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2002 and is currently assistant professor of English Literature at the School of Humanities & Social Sciences at Nanyang in Singapore. She is the author of Longing: Narratives of Nostalgia in the British Novel, 1740-1890 (2004) and Occidentalism in Novels of Malaysia and Singapore, 1819-2004: Colonial and Postcolonial "Financial Straits" (2005). Her previous publications include articles on nostalgia, occidentalism, and the functions of commerce in fiction. Wagner’s current project is a book-length study of financial speculation in Victorian literature. She is also editing a collection of essays on nineteenth-century consumer culture. Her articles have appeared, or are forthcoming, in Victorian Literature and Culture, Victorian Review, Modern Language Quarterly, Critique, and Women's Writing.
